The Medical Crucifixion

A medical professional analyzed the crucifixion from an anatomical and physiological viewpoint and their findings are astonishing in my opinion. The physician believes that Jesus’ knees were flexed at about 45 degrees while on the cross thus forcing Jesus to bear all his weight on his thigh and calf muscles. He could not do this for long before he suffered major cramps. The weight then transitioned to his upper body, which ended in his shoulders, elbows, and wrists becoming dislocated. Psalm 22:14 is fulfilled here in which the psalmist says, “I am poured out like water, and all My bones are out of joint.” Due to the dislocations, the muscles in Jesus chest cause him to be in a permeant state of inspiration. That means, in order to breathe, Jesus had to force his body to do so. He had to push down on the nails (more like railroad spikes) in his feet to allow his rib cage to move downwards and inwards to get air out of his lungs.
As the grueling six hours went on, Jesus became understandably weaker and weaker. His legs cramped more and more, and his dislocations increased. Because of his, the fear of asphyxiation grew. Remember Jesus had nails in his hands as well. The median nerve (nerve the goes into thumb, index, middle, and ring fingers) exploded with each movement. The wooden cross also poked and scratched Jesus back, which was already torn to ribbons at his scourging. Jesus blood oxygen levels began to fall, thus telling Jesus He needed to breath faster. All of these medical disasters caused Jesus’ heart to beat faster and faster. The medical professional concluded that Jesus’ heart rate was about 220 beats per minute, the maximum normally sustainable. Imagine Jesus’ blood pressure; He was in the first degree of shock, excessive heart rate, excessive respiratory rate, low blood volume, and excessive sweating. Around noon, Jesus heart began to fail.
Due to the gradually increasing physiological demands of Jesus heart, and the advanced state of haemopericardium (excessive fluid building up inside the heart), Jesus most likely suffered cardiac rupture, meaning his heart literally burst. All because He loves me and you.
